When: September 19-21, 2025
Where: White Birch Village Resort in Boulder Junction WI
What’s included? Cabin/Suite rentals at a resort in the rustic north woods of WI, dinner Friday night, all 3 meals Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday. Book signing with JL Hyde, Grady Lake/JL Hyde merch, including a copy of her new book coming in August “To All Those I’ve Killed Before”, lots of time to relax, read, connect with fellow book lovers and more!
Who: YOU! You are welcome to go solo, bring a friend or female family member. Since there will be shared sleeping spaces,
this is a women’s only trip.
What to expect:
Relaxation – The north woods is the perfect spot to slow down from your busy life and unwind in the pristine nature. There is lots to do at the resort including, canoeing, kayaking, campfires (and smores!), nature walks, games and puzzles, pickleball, sand volleyball, and time to just relax on the beach or dock.
Books – This is a BOOK retreat after all! While this retreat is inspired by JL Hyde’s “Grady Lake” you are welcome, and encouraged to bring any and all books to share and discuss. There is a library at the resort to check out books during your stay as well.
Friendship – I am hoping this retreat will create a space to foster friendships that will last beyond the weekend. It’s like summer camp, but for adults! There will be an Instagram group created for all attendees so you have time to get to know one another prior to the retreat.
Basically, you don’t have to think! You just need to sign up and let this be the trip of the lifetime.
When you arrive:
Friday, September 19th: Arrive at the resort as early at 4pm. We will have a quick introduction before the signing with JL Hyde at 5pm. During the signing we will have a taco dinner bar where you can come through at any time. After the signing we will head to the campfire for s’mores and time to get to know each other!
Saturday, September 20th: We will start the day with a Swedish pancake breakfast around 9am. After breakfast we will have some free time to wander around the resort grounds and spend time relaxing, reading, whatever you choose! Lunch will be around 1pm followed by more time to enjoy the lake, kayak, canoe, fish. The day will be chill and not too structured so you can enjoy what you’d like to! We will end the day with dinner and games.
Sunday September 21st: Send off breakfast at the lodge and check out at 9am (we are free to use the lodge space longer than 9am, we just need to be out of the cabins for cleaning crew to start turnover for next guests)

FAQ
Can I bring a friend? Come alone? Come with a family member?
Yes to all of the above! You will have a roommate and share a cabin or suite with other travelers (you will have your own bed). For this reason, this is a women’s only event. I will do my best to match those booking this trip together to make roommates as comfortable as possible!
We have 2 lodge suites, and 5 cabins available to use.
How much time do I have to decide?
When the trip sells out, that’s it. I cannot guarantee or hold spots.
Can I stay longer than the 21st?

What if my plans change?
Although I will be offering a wait list, I cannot guarantee your ticket will be returned if I cannot fill your spot. If I can find another traveler who is able to book, your ticket may be returned!
Where can I fly in?
There are several nearby airports to fly in. Rhinelander WI (about 55 min away) has car rentals available, Ironwood MI (about 75 min away) car rentals available. Please note these are very small airports and will have limited car options and availability. I am unsure of ride share options to get to the resort from these airports.
Additional things to note
This is my family’s resort and how I am able to keep costs low. Since we are getting a discounted rate we have kindly been asked to not use the kitchens in the cabins. The lodge kitchen is available to use for all of us during our stay. It’s a commercial kitchen and has plenty of space if you are wanting to cook anything additional beyond the meals provided.
